Oboe Divas!
Operatic Duos and Ensembles from Handel to Wagner
Emily Pailthorpe and Elaine Douvas
Why should singers have all the best tunes? Here are the Oboe Divas playing Lakmé's
Flower Duet.
Other operatic moments are celebrated in a scene from Donizetti's Lucia di Lammermoor by the 19th Century Henri Brod, to a recent wind quintet fantasy by Richard Blackford on themes from Die Meistersinger.
Sometimes the Divas are alone, as in this Mozart aria,
sometimes in larger groups, as in this arrangement (possibly supervised by Beethoven himself) of Fidelio.
